Daddy's Little Princess

Hush my little Princess just lay your head on me,
and I'll keep the nightmares away.
Hush little Princess don't you forget,
Daddy's here and he's here to stay.
I know we lost mommy but know she's okay,
maybe one day you'll understand;
why I'd to take you away.
See mommy was sick,
she was too busy sucking bricks.

She mommy was always high,
she never was around to keep you on steady ground.
You were all alone,
with no one to hold.
Then mommy brought a man home,
oh my little princess,
I wish I knew
My little Princess I can't express enough,
how sorry I am that your mom's a slut.

Mommy got sicker and had to go away,
she left you on my doorstep and sped away.
Police came by later and said mommy died moments later.
My world came slowly to an end as my heart crushed into three,
then I heard you cry and I didn't know you existed until then.

I looked upon your face with your big hazel eyes,
seen your curly hair and realized you were mine.
You looked so much like her,
I cried for hours.

I seen your bruises and took you away,
hush little princess I'll keep the monsters away.
Years past and you got married today,
I remember the way you looked when you played dress up
so young and full of glee, as I looked upon your face today.
I knew it was time I'd set you free.

I can't help but wanting to always keep you here,
your my little Princess and I want to keep you safe.
I'm not scared to take my shotgun to this man's face,
but I love you my Princess and I know it's the real case.
As we walked down the lane I struggled not to cry,
you looked so beautiful in your mother's wedding dress.
As we got up to the alter I had to pass your hand onto his,
and I felt like I was holding onto you too tight.

I watched you say I do,
I watched you as your stomach grew.
I watched you as you introduced me to my grandson,
I watched you as you laughed too hard at my jokes.
Oh my little Princess if only I knew.

You were dying and you were scared,
you were on your death bed and I prayed that God will take me first.
My darling princess don't worry you'll be fine.
I watched you as you grew weak and you seemed to be fading away.
You looked at me and we both knew.
You cried so hard and told me to look away.
I just held you in my arms,
as you slowly began fade out.

So Hush my little Princess just lay your head on me,
and I'll keep the nightmares away.
Hush little Princess don't you forget,
Daddy's here and he's here to stay.
