Hope

People think when they ask if you trust them you should give them a simple yes or no answer
Trust is a precious gift
I don't see why people think it's an easy thing to give out
I wasn't always this way
You see I use to live in California
I use to live in a drought
And suddenly once it first started to rain we decided to call this water escaping the clouds hope
Hope followed me ever since this day
Soaking her way into my skin, making us one
She became friendly
Plummeting her way into my conversations
I spoke way too happy
False boys would say that they loved me
I believed them
Mother told me she would come back, she was only going out for a smoke
Where did she go?
Apologies were spewed at me from these serpents I called friends
"You will never have to worry about this again" became a familiar hiss
Why does everyone lie?
Lies are so easily blasted out of these broken promises called lips
No, this is a familiar song
I have been acquainted with this tune before
Some may even mistake this melody being hummed as the adultery I laid awake hearing at night
Wedding bells
Wedding bells are such promising voices in the winds exchanging their vows
I will love you
I will be there for you
I will never leave you
Four years later your daughter is listening to you sign away your forever in a court room wondering if she'll be staying with mom or dad tonight
But hope
Oh dear hope
Hope is still there
Burning your skin with don't give ups
You are trying
How are you suppose to believe anything is genuine when you grew up with a mother named liar and and a father name deceit
Yet still you yearn
You hope for a better tomorrow
You yearn that he is your better tomorrow
You hope that there is a tmrw

Hope is always the last thing left in the box but the box will never be empty!

This is a good piece but I feel it loses something due to its rambling nature. It could do with cutting down by 50% to be more hard-hitting.
