Look Away

When the final day comes
And I am caught in my
Dirty underwear, I pray
That the angels will look away.

When I find the time is short,
And there is nothing more to say,
When I see the Savior's face,
And feel my sins around me,

When the Light of Life
Is snuffing out, and I am left
To linger but a moment, I pray
That the angels will look away.

I am so far from perfect,
I have defects everywhere.
I am nothing short of messed-up,
And I know it very well.

So Lord, when I am chosen
To return to heav'n above,
Give this memo to the angels:
They should kindly look away.

Hi Randall, I like this, I'm sure it's made many of think (not just about underwear faux pas) that, as they said in Wayne's World, "we're not worthy!" ?

I'm sure you will sneak through the pearly gates with no trouble Randall. Just make sure you wear clean undies each day and be prepared.

This is a lovely poem with a simple message or plea that many can relate to in their own imperfect way.

I love the honesty of this poem. Many of us have recognized that we are not fit but thanks be to God that he gives us beauty for ashes and white robes for filthy rags....once you put complete trust in the Lord I don't think the angels will have to look away but i understand the sentiment.

Modesty in the sight of perfection? What one of us hasn't felt it?

There is a sort of parallel in christianity whereby a man cries out that he is not worthy of salvation, and is thereby deemed worthy of redemption. This is very reminiscent.

it is a good thing that we are accepted regardless of the state of our underwear or indeed our dress sense otherwise I know that I would never be acceptable. I have terrible dress sense, probably the most uncool person I know!
great poem Randall

Randall you forget that your dedicated Guardian Angel will be waiting to escort you to your Golden Suite.

I love the spiritual modesty though.

Take heart.

I reckon those angels are more tolerant than most of us 'beings.
