The Call of the Goddess

entry picture

Oppression, powerlessness

neglect, abuse, fear, assault.

The passive peacemakers have evolved.

Their celestial feminine has spoken,

delivering a clear quiet universal message; its perfume filtering through the world.

The sisters of our fractured humanity are here to speak up and heal.

They walk confidently through the streets across the oceans, stripped of fear,

expressing the beauty of their true potential.

They are the new light in our dark world,

a new voice for those reluctant to speak.

A tidal wave of honesty, respect, reason and fair play is growing.

Whilst the Goddess smiles.

At the risk of provoking wrath, I have to say I find this piece simplistic in its message, and consequently a little vacuous. I am an advocate of equality across all gender LGBT, all equal.

To suggest the following;

"A tidal wave of honesty, respect, reason and fair play is growing.
Whilst the Goddess smiles."

in the current climate, I can only ask where are you drawing those conclusions from?

Feminism does not speak with one voice and within its multiple factions is hugely divided, nor are its supporters determined by gender (I'm sure you'd agree), I feel the term feminism restrictive, and can often reinforce division and stereotypes depending on how it is practiced and/or interpreted.

Although you have not used the word feminism it seems to me that you are alluding to such, that is an assumption on my part, which I readily accept.

I think this piece is worthwhile if its purpose is to provoke discussion.

I feel to whitewash over such complex issues with broad sweeping terminology is not entirely helpful. I would add in fairness and recognition, it is better to discuss it in any manner than to ignore it.

Thanks you Colin.

It took me a good few years to express thoughts and feelings that have been desperate to get out.
A kind of catharsis perhaps?

well they get my vote Raj - but I do wonder what this world would be like now if the roles had been reversed for all these countless millennia - much the same maybe? Still, it's worth giving it a go considering us men have made such a bollocks of the job. Your thoughtful poems continue to grow on me Raj. I find them very accessible which is a good thing. Cheers, Colin.
