Canal View

The view over the Ship Canal

was not for the faint hearted,

wheelie bins, plastic bags,

a dogs body or two,

used condoms galore.

Thats what used to be, now

with lots of folks doing lots of work,

The view over the Ship Canal

is a sight to behold

on a lovely summers day,

couples walking out

past the old Roman Fort,

kids with mum and dad

getting a bit of history, but best

best of all,

just watching

mother swan and her brood

as they go gently gliding past

on a summer afternoon.

Salford Quays=Swans, couples etc

So you have visited the Leeds Liverpool canal , I did once and it fits the first part of you piece!.
There is a canal near me that is beautiful but no Fort, but , many people live on it and also glide along (on foot)on a Sunday morning enjoying it's hidden glory.
