Ooo ya little belter, Lancs! I was actually looking for something like that ? Brilliant, thank you!

Interesting story elP - were they hoping someone somewhere would end up solving it for them or what?!

I home-schooled my son for a short stint after I found that the public school he was attending was assigning work fit for a pre-schooler to my eleven-year-old. I remember going over wave compression and other properties of sound and was so well-pleased at how quickly he picked up on the ideas.

Just an aside, I studied Classical Mathematics for a few years before I found out how much it can change the wiring of a brain. My Calc III final was a take-home exam. I remember finishing all but one problem in a couple of hours--a triple integral. I spent the remainder of the weekend sleepless trying to work it out and had to give up when the deadline rolled around.

I handed my test over to the professor along with about 20 pages of notes, drawings and all, and had to ask him how to derive the answer. He said that there is none and that mathematicians can't even find a symbol for it. I was speechless and simply walked away without another word. I didn't even bother to find out what he had to say about my exam.

Anyhow, I still like to fiddle around with it a little but, really, it's entirely another world when you dive in.

Thanks elPintor - formatting was a right bugger on this too. I've tweaked a bit more now. Did you know there's eight different formulas for the Doppler effect?

I've yet to do the math, but it's a rather clever idea...makes me want to go wanderin' thru wikipedia to find their take on Doppler.

clever woman ?

I do like the formula at the front, love it when a poet mixes science and words ?
