Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

Mirror mirror on the wall

took a turn,

crash and fall.

Why'd you go and crash and fall?

But mirror, mirror on the wall

was the fairest of them all,

until he had to crash and fall.

Crash. And fall.

Hear me, hear me,

here’s to someone

we should aspire be,

the fairest of them all.

But hear me, hear me,

fairest of them all,

I’m not done with you.

We will talk.

When I, too,

crash and fall.

My "father" had a daughter

whose friend was the queen’s mirror,

mirror on the wall,

you’re still the fairest of them all.

Bright lights,

big man,

chorus of people

all with wings,

and halos.

I know you’re there.

If it's real.

And mirror, mirror, on the wall,

I will meet you,

when I crash and fall.

Thank you all for your comments. I agree about the wordiness (is that a word?), but I feel all that has been said needs to have been said, and I don't do competitions or anything.
Cynthia- thank you for correcting my clumsy grammar. I'm in high school, I love writing prose and poetry, and I am absolutely terrible at spelling!
Thank you all again.

This is very strong, and honest, and original, all best criteria for a good poem.

But, once you're posting so-called 'page poems', check your words for silly spots that just get stuck in by accident like 'whose friend was .... etc.' It happens to everybody. But it does matter.

I look forward reading more of your work.

I couldn't get this until I read the memoriam explanation and now I think it's rather good if a touch wordy and repetitive in places. Mirrors are good for reflecting and this mirror seems somewhat prophetic - as if your friend is still speaking to you from somewhere beyond. It's an intriguing image that could no doubt be expanded. And perhaps this has a seasonal and personal significance with your shared involvement in Christmas productions? Thanks for posting Claire.
