Acceleration

I guess you could say I like to go too fast,

I can’t help it,

It makes me feel like I’m living

Just wisping through time.

I take the meds,

But they don’t keep me happy,

Not like him, the wind, and the road.

Sometimes I wish I could ride forever,

No obstacles, no lights,

With him always following behind or beside.

But I have the plans that keep me here,

The ideals from my youth, for my future.

I have them that keep me here,

Their pride in me and high hopes.

So I just keep having my too fast little escapes,

And maybe one day, I will be free.

I quite like the essence of this poem. I get the feeling of there being a hint of the dare-devil but with some self restraint.
