An Ode to Stacey Jo

From the moment we first met
Our hearts became entwined
As I gazed through a haze of ceramic displays
I knew you would be mine
Mr Bramwell's art class...
The new girl having a look around
Teenage bravado now seems so crass
I was trying to sound profound

A solitary match
Struck against the floor
Immature giggles groaned to gasps
As Mr Richmond entered the door
The sordid scent of sulphur
Wasn't exactly subtle
You stepped forward and intervened
Saving me from trouble

Our chemistry was apparent
In Mrs Barton's science lab
As fingers first came to touch
Above biology books and gas taps
When Mr Rooke helped us decipher
Silas Marner and Henry V
You scratched your nails down the back of my head
My mind began to drift

Loves young dream just in our teens
Too beautiful to resist
As we walked by the brook
You stepped on my foot
We stumbled into a kiss

But young hearts and hormones
Invariably mean heartache
Not too proud to admit when I'm wrong
I learn from my mistakes
You were sick on my Reebok Classics
Our unconventional romance
Then 19 years ago today
You gave me another chance

True love is like a river
Its path isnt always smooth
It will wind, go dry, and burst its banks
But it has a point to prove
It will always reach the ocean
And as we shed tears and laugh
With tender hearts and devotion
True love will forge a path

We've endured our share of problems
Our own trials and tribulations
Tempers meet and tethers reached
To the brink of separation
I knew it then, and I still know
You're my rock, my girl, my world
My Ready Brek
My Honey Bunny
My only
Stacey Jo
