PJ Harvey joins the Southbank bill on National Poetry Day

entry picture

Singer-songwriter and poet PJ Harvey will be appearing at the Southbank Centre on National Poetry Day, 6 October. Harvey, who performed her The Hollow of the Hand collaboration with Seamus Murphy at the Royal Festival Hall last year, will be on the National Poetry Day Live bill, organised with the Poetry Society, with poets Rob Auton, Salena Godden,  Luke Kennard, Fran Lock, Hannah Lowe, Sabrina Mahfouz, Ian McMillan, Simon Mole, Cheryl Moskowitz and Hannah Silva. The event, which starts at 1pm and goes on into the evening, is free.

The organisers of National Poetry Day are urging poetry groups and organisations around the country that are planning their own events on 6 October to add their events to the NPD’s poetry map. And we at Write Out Loud would also urge National Poetry Day event organisers to put their events on our Gig Guide, too, of course!  The theme of this year’s National Poetry Day is “messages”.

To paraphrase the great Rafa Benitez - Proper rock star. Fact!
