Which of my hands do I like best?

a ticklish one for sure,

they both inspire confidence

can open the average door

according of course to which way it faces

that much is obvious,

but other uses have more subtle context

to which I am obviously not oblivious.

 

The right one shakes another's hand

a sense of pleasure or duty,

the left one may touch a handy waist

to escort a buxom beauty.

Typing is done in unison

the pair at even temper.

 

In sporting mode, they feel quite awkward,

having had no training for match nor contest

but DIY will favour the right

while the left supports and gently guides.

 

I quite expect the two to perform

quite independently

and behave as one

not for right hand suddenly to strangle

with the left hand left to dangle

so i'll keep them firmly attached to my arms

and hope they won't cause undue alarms.

 

Whatever the flavour of the month may be

with regards to this extremity

I think no greater advice can I give

than to be even handed,

live and let live.
