The lifespan of a fart

is but brief

and must needs express itself but once

with a sense of relief

being vapour it has no visible presence

and godlike contains in volume

a sense of its essence.

 

A social stigma it carries, no doubt

and in audible terms

the rules of decorum it must flout

whilst seeking an outlet

it must drift about,

 

so beware the impulse of

the birth of wind,

its announcement is always hard to rescind.

Be nonchalant and furrow your brow

in mock amusement while escaping somehow.
