Dreaming shadows

She watched, in the distance, the shadows dancing. She could feel them moving, their inhuman forms shuffling, slowly through the darkness, the fading light from the moon casting light between them. Every time she blinked they got closer, the hill she stood on no longer felt safe to her. But she was tired, so very tired. Why was she tired? She was fine until she noticed them. The night was windless but the shadows swayed back and forth, they taunted her, they knew she was aware and were coming for her. She turned to run, but a wall loomed up behind her, she turned back to the shadows and fell back as they reached out for her, grabbing her legs and arms, their cold touch burning her skin. She woke screaming, thousands of miles away, safe in her bed. She could still feel their touch upon her, her legs and arms covered in pale claw marks. She curled up into a ball and cried.
