Bring back the ghosts of comedians

gone over now with their harmless jokes.

Line them up on their ghostly stages

in clubs succumbed to the wrecker's ball

with not even a plaque as memorial.

 

Line them up and show them the workers

whose lives were blighted now reunited,

with factory fare and Doddy hair,

let the laughter ring again.

 

Not the anal  observations

which give no relief to the spirit,

the gutspill of pseudo political knobends

that cavort on stage today.

 

Bring  back those ghosts

who fingered the pulse

of the time and told it well

 

told it with reason and rhyme.

in their inimitable way.
