on the dark side of the earth which

doesn’t exist if we turn off our plasma screen

blood boxes

don’t list the dead who matter

it will kill you too

focus focus focus

on something beautiful

stare at a flower

while throats are slit

behind your back

and then

the monoliths might just

shriek and call us all,

every one of us,

to light and life and freedom.
