twenty seconds is not

enough time to think

about the novel I’m writing

or the poem I have to

write not enough time

to call my mom trim

my fingernails rinse

the cereal bowl I used

this morning seven

seconds now wait six

almost down to five

just not enough time for

anything, three

just barely enough to

think of things I’ll do one

day when I have some time
