decisions
i stared down
at my shoes
as local bands
played at bars
with faltering
pool tables
and in toilets
the crowded mirrors
helped strangers
form loose friendships
for fifteen minutes
as boys broke hearts
and girls destroyed them
all before
the midnight bus
and nights spent
in bed alone
thinking about
how nice
a phone call
sounds
when it plays like a record
from your parents
old car stereo

Hi Emily,

I can't say I fully understood what was behind this poem, but I did enjoy the imagery you created - especially this passage:

and in toilets
the crowded mirrors
helped strangers
form loose friendships
for fifteen minutes
as boys broke hearts
and girls destroyed them
all before
the midnight bus

The title confused me a little - care to elucidate?

Regards,

A.E.
