Poet to perform Hacienda tribute before film screening at festival

Performance poet Trevor Meaney will be performing a commissioned poem about the legendary Hacienda night club in Manchester, on Sunday 15 November at 6.30pm at Hyde Park Picture House in Leeds, as part of the Leeds International Film Festival. Trevor first performed the poem before a 600-strong crowd as part of the introduction to Do You Own The Dancefloor?, a film created by Chris Hughes, which relates the story of Hacienda and its demise, and the auctioning of many relics of the club, including sections of stage and dance floor, a DJ booth and a urinal. Trevor said: “I'm not entirely sure why I was given the privilege of writing a poem about something so iconic and prestigious to so many, but when Chris asked me, there was no way I could refuse. I can't wait to perform the poem again. It was greatly received and to be able to be part of it in some way is an honour.” More details
