Hvis Lyset Tar Oss

tracking through the frozen

      murmurous pine

iced needles cracking beneath my feet

my mind fits and shifts its fix

towards the burning carcass ahead

the glittering monument to christ the redeemer

flames licking and sucking at its skeletal frame

the heightened lust of ownership

     coursing through my withered veins

we drag the screaming fanatics behind

hessian prison screams

sick and twisted dreams

cut the flesh fuck the soul

the glacial seduction of Haborym

leading us to his merciful flesh

beneath the nordic night

stars shrieking like wildfire

jet black air holds cold hands tight

forgive them their sins

forgive me my revenge

the fire warms my frozen heart

      the smoke grips my chest

he rises above the pyrrhic pyre

to hold me down once more

no acid! just a diet of early norwegian thrash metal and multivitamins.

i admit to being a fan of early, scandinavian black metal (the title of the poem itself is taken from a burzum album) not so much for the music but for the history. they routinely burnt churches, murdered other band members (really) and just have a really interesting past.

i guess i was just in the place and the time and wanted to get something down. im glad you like it, i enjoyed writing this a lot.

overall i think its about a church burning followed by a sacrifice. neither of which i have ever directly been involved in!
