entry picture

Launch with readings of Two Marriages by Glyn Hughes, SATURDAY DECEMBER 8TH 2007 2.00 - 4.00 pm at Artsmill, Linden Mill, Linden Rd., Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire HX7 7DN. 01422 843413
Two books chosen by Guardian readers' poll as "Eco Classics". Also recently picked by Times as "one of 6 best ever authors on North of England".
Glyn Hughes's poetry has been a Poetry Book Society Recommendation,
and recipient of the Welsh Arts Council Poet's Prize. His novels have been awarded the Guardian Fiction Prize, the David Higham Prize, and  short-listed for the Whitbread and James
Tait Black prizes. A recent poll of Guardian readers chose two of his books as "Eco Classics". The Times listed his earlier autobiography, Millstone Grit, as one of the "6 Best Ever" books on the North of England. A short story collection appeared in 2005. His most recent collection of poetry was Dancing Out Of The Dark Side (2005), also from Shoestring.

I have not seen this year a book of selected poems by a living writer
more quietly memorable, more moving in simple human terms, and displaying a greater range of skill. Charles Causley, The Guardian
Your publishers sent me a copy of Best of Neighbours. Reading it’s made me realise again how much I left out of my Calder Valley book ... I’ve been thinking I ought to write something supplementary to mine .... but your book does it really - gets the place as it is. Very
satisfying. Ted Hughes, Letters
The poems slowly heave and daringly glow with a kind of persistent, stubborn inward life. Surely these poems will eventually ... and one hopes inevitably ... demand the recognition they so obviously deserve. Norman Nicholson
