PILGRIMAGE

~~PILGRIMAGE.

Coming out, to entertain
To sing and shout
Express their pain
Then wash away
The darkness of today.
A movement swelling,
Compelling us to change
A movement which is seldom heard
Of music, song, and spoken word
A pilgrimage of arts
By martyrs to the cause
Troubadours
Who oppose the wars
With songs, not rifles
With once stifled words,
Now roaring, soaring
No longer slurred
But growing louder
Proudly shouting
“Art’s not dead!!”
It’s become a figurehead,
Loaded with exploding rhymes.
With words and music
Instead of mines.
Landing behind the enemy lines
Unafraid and telling it like it is
A wordy raid on sensibilities.
Opening up new possibilities.
A pathway leading to salvation
Using only imagination
And the truth
Admittedly
There’s no fountain of youth,
But there is beauty all around.
Don’t let austerity confound.
Listen to the birds singing
The voice of protest bringing change,
Hope, exchanging bullets for a pen
Bringing unity and then
We can be one world
Unfurl the banner
Of our Earth
And finally see the birth
Of freedom.
