Simon Armitage and George the Poet at Canterbury's Wise Words festival

The new Oxford professor of poetry, Simon Armitage, and Cambridge University graduate George the Poet will be headlining Canterbury’s Wise Words festival from 4-6 September, billed as “three days of poetry, music, talks, workshops, walks, wellbeing, food, drink, stories and performances for all ages”. Other poets at the festival will include John Siddique and Anthony Anaxagarou, with a poetry slam and pop-up poetry in the streets of Canterbury as well. Armitage will be conducting masterclass for young poets, and also featuring his book Walking Away, about his poetry walking tour along the south-west coastal path. George the Poet, aka George Mpanga, will be performing his poetry and rap on Saturday 5 September in the Garden Tent at 8-9pm. More details
