I Hope The Train Breaks Down

entry picture

I hope the train breaks down

Before the end of the line.

Then again; that’s a bit of a foolish thought

For sooner or later

We’ll get to the end,

in time.

I like the journey

But not the destination

So I think I’ll break my journey

And change trains at the station

Because I’m not quite ready,

For the end of the line

So I’ll carry on with my trip

And I’m enjoying my travels

Plenty of stations to call at

While life unravels

And we’ll get to the end of the line,

sometime

The first verse came to me a while ago while driving to work and I've laboured for a while on the second two verses. It's not about fear of death and I didn't mean for it to sound ominous, perhaps it needs a little more thought. Looking back I've written quite a few poems about life as a journey but so far its one that I'm mostly enjoying!
Thanks for looking in Amit, Harry and Lynn

Spot on Amit!

Steve,
those last two lines sound a bit ominous.

the fear of death is it or the joys of living?
