Alcyone

What granite, grey, glow less forms

Separate both you and me

For pastures green

In the seasonal sky

Dear we met a year ago

At Kings Road, Brighton,

Not London.

Let me begin to tell,

The words said on that day.

“When we have lost,

All our meanings, and resolved

All our mysteries, we will be alone,

Together, on an empty shore.

Those words, that day,

Still cautious to your charms

My arms would break

If you hold me again,

Like you did, on that day.

I await your return,

Oh my love

When we have found

All our meanings, and solved

All life’s mysteries, we will be alone

Together at platform two

Let me take all the loves

Of the glorious ancients and

Capture them in a box for you.

Twist your jewellery

In a high afternoon tension

Speak infant like words,

In which only I understand.

In a lush park, I can sit and wait,

Wait and watch,

Watch an infant soul

Kicking his legs on the bench

Or throw his hat with glee

I am here for your return

My love.

Hi Sean,
Not familiar with your work. really liked this. Especially -
My arms would break
If you hold me again,
Should hold be held? Its a powerful piece Sean. Great stuff. Winston

I agree with francine about the words you have written and she likes. I too like that line. I am a little lost with the line that enters platform two. It took the sentimental value away for me, to be replaced with thoughts of British Rail sarnees??? Nevertheless an enjoyable poem that i do like.

I do love to read your poetry Sean and this one is just as pleasurable as others you've posted here in the past.
Francine is an incurable romantic and i have to agree with her comment. Lovely. :-)

I find these words said so romantic...

“When we have lost,
All our meanings, and resolved
All our mysteries, we will be alone,
Together, on an empty shore."
