I can't change you

used to be a rock
cutting every sentence
whenever challenged
I’m a pebble these days
still on a quest
lost the stars in my eyes
you could argue with me
and my zest will agree with you.
easier that way.
wish washed on bland beaches
there used to be storms here
the excitement of the un-jaded life
been there and done it
so
pre-faded shrink fit
heard and seen
nothing new under the sun
horizontal
I am rolled smooth
suitable for skipping
and how far you throw me off course
and I just let you
these eyes make no emotion
they let the tide do the work
tried fighting it
it always wins
giving in is not losing
it’s the realisation
I cant change you.
