Tears Upon a Damsel Stricken

Tears Upon a Damsel Stricken

They served in faith,

retired - slovenly of life

in pain,

Their exit beckoned to

a candle'd mass,

Forgiving fathers praying

For assailants knives -

And worlds discordant

By a harpies laugh,

Drive children mad,

The absence of their masculine

Strength.

A fable promised by

courts then shamed, a sad

and lonely directors cause;

A taking of babes from loins once

blessed, to be abused by

further excused; so claiming

victory from shallow fight.

Teach the children rot!

Spoil the heart that's born from

Men whom for hope of

greater good,

make sacrifice while sliced in

two of parenthood – and prove,

Then disapprove this man?

Disapprove natures truth,

Then send them back to war

some more.

A fathers son,

A loving Dad beseeched

by emptiness on desolate isle,

Yet, wait awhile and see;

The vagrant fantasy led

Away – in chains,

The man whose symmetry

of heart forsaken,

Hence; dead for having loved

you so!

And once,

Once the spotlight

reaches, shines upon

your own dormant heart,

You'll realize regret,

and curse the 'Selfish,'

You've Become.

In the second last verse of this poem chime several chords of meaning ...resonant of loss.
