Lost Cause

Lost Cause

When I have to defend myself

I can’t explain the reason why

I chose the choice I had to choose

The trigger pulled ahead of time

So once more you mend the bridge

I fall a position below you

                        Swept up in costly privilege

Years past, I once thought I knew you

                        A globe away

                                    The sun melts and glares

                                                A chosen pathway

                                                            Despite her empty chair

                                                A hallowed meaning reality stung

Burns pipes inside a steel drum

                                                                        Voiceless hauteur devoid unsung

Taken by refuge under her sun
