Inside My Mind

Inside My Mind

No matter how far I seek

Removing myself from my mind

Inside I follow my own rules

Just like everyone else outside

Perfecting my rhythm

Senses perform at my strength

At every moment learning

Stretching my length

So I travel the world

To see where we’ve gone

Broaden my pain

To know how to be strong

Trapped by self-interest

Not a flaw but a weakness

To then socialize and collaborate

On a level of sects and cliques

We all have our own reasons

Freedom of speech and belief

Yet we’ve survived the seasons

By finding a satisfying relief

As my body I act upon my emotions

Urges I fulfill

And denunciations I question

Refusing to oppress or swindle

Inside my mind I keep everything together

Decisions and consensuses

To their face my infrastructure crumbles

Honest relinquishes

Oceans of uncertainty

A black hole of an excuse

No one’s sure of anything

And we fill the void with our truth

The judgment rains and antipathy seeps

Based on how we feel

Our untwined future creeps

Faced by our infinite real

I believe what I see

And believe people see me

For something I pretend to be

And they’re happy to believe

There’s millions just like me

On lands across the sea

And here where they can see

Their own mediocrity

Yet too blind to see

Beyond their own sea

And won’t try to be

Open minded like me

That wants to see

How we really could be

Not a life forced to lead

We watch lives on T.V.

And believe what we see

Held back freely

Because we’re what they need

A pool from which they feed

And we spread like a disease

Our needs cast to the seas

Left to fall like autumn leaves

Our comforts lie upon our sleeves

As happy as we need

The hunger that we feed

Our own disease

Symptoms include me

Passed down through family

Some fall to their knees

Their minds are at ease

A market they heed

A lie we believe

Under all certainty

Yet some meant to be

The real prodigies

Of whom speak truth with ease

A voice that comes naturally

Designed the future we see

Based on mystery

Pain, love and misery

All just a trip for me

On a river boat queen

Lost in a day dream

Imagining the scene

Interpreting meaning

From what I can see

And put through the machine

Onto the big screen

Or the local setting

To show what I’ve seen

That there’s love in between

The walls made to lean

Against our insecurities

They separate the seams

And fake all our dreams

To put money in their jeans

And infect all the teens

By projecting the means

Of reaching your dreams

Through work it would seem

But for whom do you glean?

And who will you blame?

How will you hide the shame?

Do you even feel the pain?
