The Fool

Today I feel
My age and not
My shoe size
My thermostat is broken
And my temperature
Is going through the roof
An angry man
Is beating his little drum
Constantly
Somewhere above my
Left eye
And the sweat
Will not stop
Betraying the last chance
Of any secrecy
I could hope to have
Of the night before
I haven't crashed
I'm not broken
But I'm as close as
I could be
Without falling off
My horse
And the sun
Shines vindictively
It knows
Everybody knows
And they all
Want me to suffer
I don't ask for much
Just a cool
Dark cave
And to be
Left alone
For once
And this I learn
Is living
As a responsible
Adult
Somebody somewhere
Needs to help
Us all
