Write Out Loud has been included on a list of “inspiring sites for poets and poetry lovers” by a US website that offers help to American students in finding the right masters degree in English programme. Masters in English lists Write Out Loud  in its performance and events sites section, and says: “Write Out Loud encourages writers of poetry to get involved with spoken word performances. They have a diverse range of participants that includes all ages, backgrounds, styles and experience.” Another top UK performance poetry site, Apples and Snakes, is also listed on the Masters in English site.

Write Out Loud’s co-founder, Julian Jordon, said: “We are delighted to find increasing numbers of poets joining the site from across the world. We have always had an internationalist outlook, believing that both grassroots and published poetry can help individuals speak to each other around the world. Our crowd translation wiki, though yet to be fully developed, shows that we are serious about this.

“Over a period of five years we ran cross-cultural poetry events in Bordeaux, including pop-up Anglo-French crowd translations in a local bar. At our inaugural Marsden poetry night in West Yorkshire, I pointed out that our poetry gig guide map shows a regular event in Perth, Western Australia - at which one of the Marsden attendees declared that he was from Perth, and would look up said night on his return.”

Julian added: “Write Out Loud has long encouraged people to find their voice through poetry, and to share their words, regardless of cultural or linguistic background.”
