When You're Low

When you're low
Happiness becomes giddiness
Annoyance becomes lividness
Sadness becomes despair

When you're low
Heart beats faster
A lack-of-sugar disaster
Sweat-soaked, even in cold air

When you're low
Brain goes to power save mode
But they know how to crack the code
And you're so glad they were there

this is an immensely effectively and pleasant to read piece of poetry. I LOVE IT !!....the repetition, rhyme, assonance and consonance blends very well to creative a good rhythm. The rhyming is very quirky and unusual which is intriguing...and the turn in the final stanze...is superb...the way you reference "They" ..but still everyone knows you mean family and friends. lovely poem.!!

Helene, I'm sure they are very thankful for you, because you (like my close friends and fam) likely have learned how to help them get through lows ;)

Thanks Helen. Yep, type 1 diabetic since age 15. Have had some close calls.
