The escape

At night
She took out
Her eyes
Took out
Her ears
Took out
Her teeth
Regressed
Into that
Alien
Embryonic state
And prepared to fill
Her tired tortured mind
With another state
Of dream and horror
And inner daemons
And miserable excuses
That justified
Her miserable life
She gasped and moaned
And sweated and turned
Turmoil within
And turmoil without
Until she shook herself
Awake
And with that swift movement
Fell deeper
Into herself
leaving no ladder
Or rope
To escape or end
The tide of
All
Her woe
