EXCITEMENT

EXCITEMENT

That snow white Vauxhall Cresta

With its red leather seats

And stunning chromium bumpers

Flashing through the town streets

In the front passenger seat

I waved to friends going by

As dad raced the engine

Keeping the rev counter high

That pure white Vauxhall Cresta

With its iconic look

A classic sixties motor

The best one in the book

The push button start depressed

A stick shift gear change

Then take off like a missile

Launched from a firing range

That magic Vauxhall Cresta

Still casts a spell on me

Although it’s been gone a while

And I still have my picture

Dad took quite by surprise

Standing beside the bonnet

A mixture of terror

And excitement in my eyes.

love the poem nearly as much as I loved my Vauxhall Firenza (droop snoot)complete with body kit and white-walled tyres!
