Calling teenage poets in Yorkshire: search is on for film performers

Teenage poets in Yorkshire are being invited to take part in performance poetry workshops that will lead to the creation of the True Grit Poetry Cycle, a series of six short digital films. Write to Speak are seeking young people based in Hull aged 13-19 to take part in a workshop on Saturday 12 April at Hull central library, 10am - 3.30pm, that will be an introduction to performance poetry and spoken word skills, with workshop leaders Joe Hakim and Mike Watts. Other workshops leaders will be Kate Fox, Joe Kriss and Khadijah Ibrahiim (pictured), at Thirsk (5 April), Sheffield (12 April), Leeds (15 April), Bradford (10 May), and Harrogate (24 May). More details. It’s all part of Yorkshire Festival 2014, organised to mark the Grand Départ of the Tour de France.
