A Simple Case of Child Hate

A Simple Case of Child Hate

            Talking the talk

And walking the walk,

Two different items

You didn’t spew.

            Brandishing your gun

Like the funk you are

 Where battledom hides from

Your fake in view

            Do you think it’s wise

With your guns despised,

Teaching kids violence?

If you wanna be a coward

Led weapons merchant there’s

Mercs and the Taliban begging

Your vain employment,

                                    I sigh.

Spinning war facades with

Sick charades in your damaged

Mind, a vixen beholden with

A child on your lips.

            Too much Hollywood and I

Feel sorry for you, for a magazine

Loaded weighs more than your life.

Written with your usual passion for important things. Terrific ending.

you always have so much to say about violence and conflict and it is always thought provoking and stunning in its portrayal. Sian x

Hey mike! Thank you for your kind words on my poems...! Im loving this poem it says so much about the current climate i read this poem from the point of view that you are condeming these kids desire to be gangsters? Am i right? And their desire to be like some of todays 'role models'? Either way its a good read and its spot on....Bless...

Sadly very real. Would you mind if I used this for one of my classes; I'd give you full credit?

"for a magazine

Loaded weighs more than your life".

This is a great clause. I enjoy reading your work Mike. Always real. Always shows great awareness and empathy.
