Luke Wright lends a hand to help local library in Suffolk stay open

entry picture

Luke Wright will be performing at his local library in Bungay, Suffolk, on Friday 6 December, in a benefit night, with all proceeds going to help the library stay open. The performance poet regularly features on Radio 4’s Saturday Live. As the website Sustainable Bungay explains, the library was saved from closure last year, but now the local community is expected to find around £2,000 a year to help keep it open. It adds: “Of course none of us want to see the library close so we’ll all stick our hands in our pockets and find a little more money to add to that which we’ve already given SCC in council tax to deliver their statutory duty – a legal obligation – to provide a comprehensive library service. And of course giving extra money to the library is wonderfully easy to do when you’re paying for excellent events like this!” Tickets are £10, available from the library, (tel 01986 892 748).
