Spoken word writer? Your chance to report on poetry for Write Out Loud

entry picture

Fancy yourself as an online journalist? Could you be part of the grassroots poetry revolution?

There’s a poetic revolution going on, with events, groups, projects and websites springing up across the UK and beyond.  At the heart of it all, Write Out Loud has become THE poetry listings website, encouraging, reviewing and reporting on the whole UK scene.

Festivals, publishers, organisers and poets - grassroots to establishment. – increasingly want us to report, comment on, review and record their poetic activities.

But the country is big and our resources limited, so we need YOU: fresh contributors for our news and features section. What’s happening in your part of the poetry world? Does your area get enough mentions? Go on, do something about it: send a poetry news story from your region; a feature about your favourite venue; an interview with a poet you admire; or a review of a performance or event.

Please get in touch with news editor Greg Freeman at news@writeoutloud.net for more details, and to discuss your ideas. Like most websites, we can’t pay, but unlike many websites, our reach is remarkable: 1,000 unique visitors a day at the last count, and increasing. Your contributions could look good on a CV, and on Google, if you’re seeking to build a name for yourself, perhaps as an online journalist.

Write Out Loud covers national and local news, in line with our aims to report the latest doings in the world of poetry and to encourage grassroots poetry performance. Join us in our mission!
