Never More To Shine

There was a man who understood,
everything he thought he could,
so sure was he that all was clear,
he didn't make time for someone dear.

And when at last she'd packed her case,
he realized he was losing more than face,
but change was then much too late it seems.
for her heart was broken by shattered dreams.

Years then passed by in such long procession,
his own life floundered within his sad regression,
until by chance one summers day he saw her face,
and rushed to offer his pleas and warm embrace.

But sadly she had not remained alone like him,
two children reached to hold her hands and grin,
and so he stopped his dash some few paces before,
he could have reached to hold her just once more.

Instead he turned and knew that grey clouds would,
come to block out the sun that he then understood,
was never more to shine on his life as once it had,
indeed a hermit he soon became til quite fully mad...

Thanks Isobel - I'm not much of a competition participant usually - I tend to find lines flow better when I'm not trying to fit in with topics and rules and stuff, I suppose it is a sort of poets block, hehe.
Best wishes, Dave

What a sad tale - and very cautionary indeed - when you've got the opportunity of the perfect woman - grab her quick cos she won't hang around forever - now if you could just point me in the direction of a perfect man, I'd do the same!

Is this going in for the 52 Hertz comp? If so, you need to tag it :)

Thank you . :) Pure fiction in this case, but inevitably based upon observations from the real world. Best wishes, Dave
