A £75 first prize and automatic entry to the grand final in Manchester await the winner of the Wigan heat of Superheroes of Slam 2013, part of Commonword’s quest to find the region’s finest performance poet. Hosted by Write Out Loud’s Julian Jordon, this heat at the Tudor House hotel, Wigan, on 8 August, will see 12 poets battle it out over two rounds, judged by a panel for writing and performance excellence. Entry/donation is £3, including slam competitors. To sign up as a contestant: the famous Write Out Loud website has a special slam sign-up, first-come-first-served, system that enables total fairness and automatically creates a reserve list.

To register, you need to log in to the Write Out Loud website, and then click on this link. It also requires you to agree to the slam rules in advance.  Fill in all the requested details and click. These will not be published. They are just in case we need to contact you.

NB: Though great theatre, slams are best for experienced performance poets rather than beginners. They can be nerve-racking and judging can sometimes seem harsh. They are not for poets of a nervous disposition!

Click on the "Submit" button below and that's it, your details will be recorded.
If you are not already logged into the site, click on Login below and either log in or sign up.

It's first come, first served: the website automatically puts you on the list unless it's already full, in which case we will put you on the reserve list. We shall confirm your status by email.
