Today my ancestors walked with me.

Adorned in the comforting relics of old.

As the hostile glass shards of the judicial temple, slice chunks from my heart,

I wear my nana's brooch.

Diamond swallows take flight, reaching skyward.

Diamond wings that cut glass, releasing hope......

With ruby eyes of blood filled sight,

As the black robes of the crows sever umbilical cords with the claws of law.

Tearing child from mother,

Mother from child.

And I wear great granma's wedding band,

Moulded of a shilling for the union of two.

A symbol of my pledge, dedication, commitment, love for you.

I touch it, twist it, feel the comfort of the band,

Envision granma's grip, holding my hand.

Walking in silence by my side.

As the briefcases clunk closed, transforming lives.....

Decisions reached beyond our control.

No clue as to what the future holds.

Granma's rosary binds my wrist,

The madonna and child pulsing hope against the life vein of my fist....

Today my ancestors walked with me,

And as I hold you in your despair,

Loving arms of generations old hold us in their fold.

courage tranfered of ages old .......
