The beat goes on: two Mersey poets reunited in Liverpool

entry picture

Two veteran poets who appeared together with Adrian Henri in Penguin’s 1960s collection The Mersey Sound will be reunited in a joint appearance in Liverpool on 26 April. Roger McGough, pictured on National Poetry Day last year, and Brian Patten will be appearing at In Other Words at Liverpool’s St George’s Hall. Both will talk about their work, and the event will be introduced and chaired by Adrian Henri's widow, Catherine Marcangeli. McGough, who was recently awarded a CBE, presents the BBC Radio 4 programme Poetry Please, and is president of the Poetry Society. Like McGough, Patten writes poetry for children as well as adults. Together with McGough and Henri, he was honoured with the freedom of the city of Liverpool. The show at St George’s Hall starts at 7.30pm, and entry is £13/£10. More details and Map
