Trinkets, Alice and Me

The things that I do, I don’t do outta malice

I just take a few trinkets, and give them to Alice.

She stores them away for a dark rainy day

And gives me protection and a Place where I stay.

I look outta the window, there’s no pane of glass

Wont go out today, I’ll just sit on my ass,

‘cos Alice aint watchin’ she’s collapsed on the floor

She’s been like it some time and now it’s quarter to four.

Alice!  I says…..This aint time to sleep.

Is this one of those days for those trinkets you keep?

It must be I think…..’Cos it’s dark and it’s damp

Oh Alice, please move or else you’ll get cramp.

Now Alice aint moved for more than a week

She aint said a word or moved in her sleep

I’m feelin’ so hungry I just eat the scraps

Now they’re runnin’ out.  I’m in competition with rats.

Now Alice…..These trinkets, I’ll leave them with you.

I must make a move and find someone new

‘cos I can’t cook the dinner or tie my own shoes

and you said…..Life’s full of choices you just have to choose.

Now I’m outta the door and on down the street

And people walk round me, I aint smellin’ too sweet.

Hey, I think I see Alice

Alice, don’t walk away.

My Alice is dead I need somewhere to stay!

ALICE!!…….ALICE!

I’LL BRING YOU TRINKETS ALICE!
