Me and My Nana

ME AND MY NANA

Me and my Nana

Go to the park

And make daisy chains

-          When it’s spring

Me and my Nana

Run very fast and jump up

And try to catch

The sunbeams from the sky

-          When it’s summer

Me and my Nana

Walk down our lane

Add kick up all the golden leaves

-          When it’s autumn

Me and my Nana

Have the most fun of all

-          When it’s winter:

-          We walk quite slowly from our house

-          And turn the corner

-          So Mum can’t see us any more –

Then we

Run and

Jump in puddles

And make a splash

And sometimes water gets into our wellies

And it’s all nice and squishy

And sometimes we get all splashed with mud

-          And there’s no-one there to see us

-          Or to tell us “Don’t do that”

Then we go home

And Mum says “Look at you two! – you’re all mucky!”

And my Nana tells my Mum

It’s only a bit of mud, and don’t be so boring –

-          Then Nana winks at me

And I try and wink back

(I’m still practising)

And we creep upstairs, giggling,

To get clean again –

And, tomorrow,

Nana promises me we’ll find

The biggest puddle we can,

And jump right in it

Mum’ll be mad, I know

-But I’m really

Really

Looking forward

To tomorrow…

Loved it full of splash and mischief. An excellent poem displaying the bond of love and mischief between grandparents and grandchildren.

Love this! If you forget how to play? Then you get old. Take care, Tony.
