Join in at Write Out Loud's new poetry workshop

Feeling a bit “stuck” with your writing?  Falling into the same old rhythms, ideas, and thought processes?  Or just fancy something a bit different?  Well, we at Write Out Loud aim to change all that, with the introduction of monthly workshop exercises.  With massive thanks to the generosity of poet Jackie Hagan, we have an abundance of exercises designed to stimulate and provoke. Here’s the first exercise to try out:

Lowry drew stick men lurching their way to factories because that’s what he saw everywhere. What do you see everywhere - couples arguing, single lost gloves, potential lovers? Choose something you can see and touch (i.e. not justice, love, missed opportunities etc). Describe this world.

We aim to post one new exercise per month, and would love to hear from you if you have found inspiration from them.  In fact, if you’re agreeable, we would like to post any resulting poems on our new Write Out Loud Community page on Facebook. Just tag your poem FB and send them to Laura Taylor at  baumfree@gmail.com

Good luck!
