A bit of hush? Essex poets give library readings at festival

Essex poets will be reading in the county’s libraries as part of Essex poetry festival from 27 September to 6 October. On Wednesday 26 September John Steer will be at Great Parndon library, Harlow at 10.15am, and Dorothy Turner at Hadleigh library in Benfleet at 2pm. On Thursday 26 September Derek Adams will be at West Mersea library, Colchester at 10.30am, with Adrian Green at Maldon library at 2pm. On Tuesday 2 October Tim Cunningham will be at Rochford library at 10am, and Denis Ahern at Billericay at 2pm. There’s an additional reading by Adams and Green plus Mervyn Linford at Southend central library on Thursday 25 October at 7.30pm. At the main festival Kim Moore and Tom Vaine appear at the Royal British Legion, The Quay, Wivenhoe, at 8pm, on Thursday 27 September, with Rayleigh open mic at Rayleigh Windmill on the same night at 8pm. Andrew Bailey and Matt Bryden are at the Naval and Military Club, Southend on  Wednesday 3 October at 8pm. Saturday 6 October is the big day at the Cramphorn theare, Chelmsford, with open mic at 1.30pm, mark Neil’s poetry jukebox at 3.15pm, Pascale Petit introducing the festival competition winners at  7.15pm, and Allison McVety, Matthew Caley and Alan Brownjohn completing the evening.
