Jessica Ennis,The Golden Goddess

Jessica Ennis,The Golden Goddess

An exciting story was about to unfold,

'Twas Jessica Ennis' pursuit of gold.

Her path to glory began when she was ten,

Taking her to the Olympic final within the peel of Big Ben.

Brought up in a terraced in the city of steel,

Worked as a waitress ,might have served you a meal.

A humble dog lover with a personality that glows,

The Olympic poster princess whom everyone knows.

She ran, jumped and threw to perfection when her turn came,

Watched by a damp eyed nation,  claiming gold medal fame.

Leading from the first event till the last,

She finished the job ,first and fast.

Blood sweat and tears to get to this stage,

Now our Golden Goddess graces' every front page.

Inspiring young females to thrive in their sport,

I'm sure in the future Jess will give them her support..

Knowing full well it is difficult to start,

But once there ,she gave it her heart.

She lifted London and Sheffield shone,

As around her shoulders gold went on.

I wouldn't even know where to start - an amazing feat - and a good poem
