Out of Time

A chord played through

fifty years Keith doesn’t need to look

he listens

a white face caught

eyes fixed on Bill

running the bass

and at the back

ready to take the mike

Mick dances

I absolutely love the Stones, up to 1970. Though the recent album A Bigger Bang is excellent. My brother was 5 years older than me. For my 11th birthday in 1964 he took me to see them at the local Odeon. The concert, although I didn't hear any music because of screaming girls, has always remained etched in my memory. Keith Richards recent autobiography is excellent, well worth a read. As was Bill Wymans from a few years ago. Recently as a gift my brother sent me a book signed by Bill Wyman. For me Mick Jagger let the side down when he became Sir Mick. Asked whether he would ever be knighted, Keith Richards replied, 'I don't kneel for no-one.'

Takes us back to the time(no pun)when-
Mick,Sir-less at the time
performed on a tiny stage
in the(believe its name or not-tis true!
the Manchester Cavern in Cromford Court
off Market Street Piccadilly
along with Phil May of the 'Pretty Things'

Boy!! were those 'them'days or what!
girlfriend,Patricia on one arm-
a coke(drink,I hasten to add-not the naughty kind)
in the other
and a zillion other girls names
scrawled all over me combat jacket..mmm

Nevertheless,I can still go apeshit
on the dance floor,spesh when
that there-'Jumpin' jack flash'is playing!

And now tis I/we
who are nearly out of time.

Boo hoo!!Cheers Glyn.xx

Nice poem looking back to when they were young and rebellious, Glyn. Sir Mick Jagger? Nice seat at the Test match? Some might say their time's up now. PS John Coopey pays a sort of homage with his recent work, Out Of Wine
