Cause and Effect - Action, Reaction

Cause and Effect – Action, Reaction

It’s no use stopping to admire

The Swan, when it is caught within a net

Left by an unfeeling fisherman,

It is no use ‘blaming’ the fisherman too,

It is thrashing its wings and

Calling out and still you’re unsure,

And you’re tutting,

Cussing away but there’s no reaction.

Stalling for time you know this is

Your future point of reference,

And you’re caught between getting wet

To save the Swan or looking on,

Looking on and making gestures internally,

(Even though you know the way to be shallow).

There is action everywhere by those

Who back the making of a fast buck,

And we don’t all agree how this came to be,

But we’re all inwardly gesturing to ourselves –

Tutting the command of the obvious,

Stating the obvious knowing the obvious

And still,

The Swan beckons for help,

And it’s just, no use,

No use until………………………..

………………..you take command of the gesture

And let not the reaffirmation

Of coldness dictate the gesture in you.

In taking control of the obvious

You state a being alive

With a love for the world,

You’re not following the new forms

Of nothingness,

Then you take reaction to repeal

Vacant attitudes and gather the meaning

In living, gather the You that you knew

Deep inside, and teach these meanings

To children.

I’m stating the truth,

Cause and effect

Has meaning in reaction –

No reaction to suffering means death,

And it’s not just about reforming gestures

And reshaping the obvious,

It’s about making the choice for life.
