The closing date is 15 September for a poetry competition open to residents of Yorkshire, the Humber and Teesside. The fee for the Ryedale poetry competition is £2 per poem and there are prizes of £75, £50 and a special Ryedale prize of £25 for best entry from a Ryedale writer. The competition will be judged by Yorkshire-based poet Andy Humphrey  who judged the Malton literature festival poetry and short story competitions in 2010 and 2011. Winners will be announced at a prizegiving event during the Ryedale book festival on 20 October. The competition also features a Young Writers category (ages 10-16) which gives free entry of up to three poems on any theme (maximum length 30 lines), with cash prizes for the winners.
