One woman and a boat: poetry surgeries on canal in Birmingham

entry picture

Birmingham’s poet laureate, Jan Watts, is offering one-to-one surgeries with new and emerging poets on her boat, the Tegla, which is moored on the canalside in Birmingham city centre this month. The surgeries are free and last 20 minutes, but must be booked in advance. For more details contact  Nikki Bi at nikki.bi@birmingham.gov.uk. Birmingham is now looking for its 17th laureate, a post that is held for a year – an experienced and exceptional poet who can be an ambassador of poetry for the city, raise the profile of poetry across Birmingham, write poetry for an occasion, perform live in front of an audience, lead a poetry workshop and inspire others to read and write poetry. If you think you are that poet, apply now. For further details, please contact Nikki Bi at nikki.bi@birmingham.gov.uk
